Shore Capital hires Scottish team to lead expansion of broking services in Scotland
New Edinburgh office for sales and research in major expansion North of the border

Shore Capital, the listed investment banking group focused on equity capital markets and alternative asset class fund management, today announces plans for a strategic expansion into Scotland with the appointment of a top Edinburgh based team from Landsbanki Securities (UK)/ Teathers Limited to spearhead the opening of an Edinburgh office for Shore Capital.

The highly rated team will focus on institutional sales and research and will join Shore Capital's equity capital markets operation.  The team will expand Shore Capital's breadth of distribution and research expertise to grow the business North of the border.

The new recruits include Richard Sloss and Andrew Keith, who are well respected institutional stockbrokers and formerly worked together at Deutsche Bank.  On the research side, David Phillips is joining to cover support services, particularly construction services, in which he was rated number two in the 2007 Sunday Times/ Starmine Survey for pan-European coverage.

These recruitments follow a number of hires by Shore Capital this year as the company continues to strengthen its sales, trading, research and corporate finance capabilities.

Clive Black, head of Research for Shore Capital Stockbrokers, said:

"We already have good distribution in Scotland and strong relationships with fund-managers in Edinburgh.  Nonetheless we have long wanted to be able to offer our services locally, as Edinburgh is such an important financial centre.  Opening an office will enable us to become a major player in Scotland."

Simon Fine, managing director of Shore Equity Capital Markets, said:

"With the new Edinburgh office we can now provide best of breed Scottish market expertise backed up by the resources of a major London-based broker.  It also enables us to build on our corporate relationships in Scotland.  We are therefore delighted to have secured such a strong and well-regarded team to make this ambition a success.  We hope to announce further hirings in due course."
